Default 2002 986s turn signal wont always stay in position..

Hey, has anyone seen this happen? When I turn on my signal to left (down) sometimes it stays down and sometimes it doesn't. I also have to hold it up to signal to go right it wont stay. Is there a adjustment sleeve on the wheel I need to fix or is it just a busted signal?

Here's my armchair diagnosis: it's broken. Your symptoms mimic mine, which required replacement of the switch assembly a month ago.

The repair for my car consisted of replacing the EWC Column Switch Assembly (996-613-217-10) and the Retaining Frame (993-347-088-01). Total bill was $210, without sales tax.

If you're a PCA member (and why wouldn't you be?), you'll likely get a discount, as I did. At my local dealer, parts are discounted 10% for PCA members.

Good luck.

Why does the retaining frame need to be replaced?

I don't really know. I didn't do the repair myself...I was reading the part numbers from the dealer's invoice for the original poster.
