Default Cost of Parts Boxster vs 911

Anyone care to comment on the general price difference between parts for the two models (OEM)? Is it relative to the percentage cost difference between the two models when new (e.g. boxster was XX% cheaper than the 911 so parts would roughly be XX% cheaper) or am I out to lunch on this?

I have always been a 911 guy but admire the boxster and wonder if it is cheaper to run? Thanks!

Both are expensive as far as I've experienced. The Boxster didn't seem cheaper for regular maintenance part.

Define the year 911 you are talking about? Same year 996/986 or 997/987 would be very similar. About the only thing cheaper for the boxster, possibly, is rear tires (smaller, usually wear a bit better than the tail heavy 911). Recall for the "new cars" there is a large part of component sharing.

Now, if you are comparing vs say a 911SC/ Carrera then in some ways the boxster is cheaper.

I am talking about 996/986 or 997/987 comparisons.

Same part numbers, same prices. I actually have to give credit to Porsche for using the same PNs for the two model lines. It wouldn't have been hard to use the same part, change the part number, and charge more for the 911 part. Of course the way they did it, they can just charge more for all of the parts.
