Is 987 suspension compatible/upgrade to 986?

I'm trying to help a friend dispose of parts removed from his '09 Cayman S race car. Does anyone know if shocks/sway bars are compatible with 986 and if they would be an upgrade?

They won't fit. The 987 is about 80% redesigned vs a 986.
