Default Price check...need your input

Hello,

I am selling my beloved 2000 Boxster S and would like to know the fair value in current market (California). Excellent condition. Garage kept. Non Smoker. Like new. 2nd owner. It loaded with options such as the following items:

2000 Boxster S with 75,000 miles
6-Speed Manuel Transmission
Factory Polor Silver Metallic
Full leather interior
Power Seat Package
Sport Touring Package (Litronic headlights, Cruise Control, On Board Computer, Digital Sound...etc.)
Traction Control
MSRP....$64,751.00

It have a $3,000 sound system (Pioneer).
Factory Aero Kit II
It was completely re-paint by high-end body shop a few years ago. Paid $7,000 by me. ****No body damage****(had receipt to prove).

How much does it worth?

Thank You.

check excellence since they have a market update on boxsters this month. I glanced at it (don't have it here w/me) and it seemed to be pretty accurate based upon my recent purchase experience.

I am moving out of country for new job. Not enough parking. I have 3 cars now and need only one car when I am away.

I would guess your car would sell for about 14k-15k. I paid 20k for my car with 58k miles over 2 years ago and it is a year newer. My car currently has 81k miles and I am guessing I could sell it for ~14k. or 12k if I needed it gone in a month.

In the bay area, there are two 2002 Boxster S's with under 60K miles that have been advertised by two different dealers for months at just under $18,000--I don't know how much interest the dealers are seeing, but given how long they have been advertising, either the cars are in terrible shape or they are over priced.

These cars are two years newer and with fewer miles than your car. So your car is worth probably somewhat less.

The repaint doesn't help--I know you can prove that there was no body damage, but most buyers will be wondering just why in the world it needed a 7K paint job.

The upgraded stereo is probably a wash--doesn't help the value, doesn't hurt.

Factory aero kit is worth something to the right buyer, but not worth anything to most buyers.

Winter is coming. Not a big problem for a car in Irvine though, so you won't be hurt by the seasonal issues one might see in New England.

So I would guess that around the Bay Area, your car actually sells to the right buyer for 15,000ish, if you ask starting at 16,000 or so. If you need it gone fast, you'll need to price it even lower.

But that is just my opinion. You should let us know when it does sell what the actual price was.

I like the $16k asking. I value my '01S at $16.5 so I key off that. At $20k I see no interest.
A simple way is to go to craigslist and cars.com and see what others are asking.

Wow.....another Polar Silver Boxster 'S'. I own one but have never seen or heard of another on the road......quite the rare beast. The best color by a mile.
