Default Will 996 Full Power seats work in an 01 Boxster with Manual Seats?

Asking on behalf of my father who has a 2001 Boxster. His seats were ruined by a lawn sprinker while the top was down.

His seats are heated with manual back/forth and power up/down. Will full 8 way power seats from a 996 require any modifications? Plug and play, by chance?

BTW, I searched and didn't come up with anything. This new search function is either way too much or not enough. Hate it.

Thanks for your help.

Since no one responded, I will post my discovery for the archives.

Short answer, no. Wiring connectors for non power seats are different than those for full power seats. However, most shops say that they can get them to work with minor wiring modifications. It is not plug and play.

I hope this helps someone in the future.

If there was a lot of water in the passenger compartment, check the alarm module (under the driver's seat) wasn't damaged. If it shorts out, it won't only be the module required.

Can't the damage be claimed for and repaired on home-owner's or vehicle insurance?

Thanks, not a lot of water. Not enough to collect in the footwell. Just enough to cause the leather to get wet, then dry out. The leather is toast.

What about going the other way. My 01S has full power memory seats, and I have a set of Sport seats from a 996 with power only up and down? Did you do the wiring? Do you know what colors are for what switch, and are they all on one fuse? What color is common (neg) in each connector?

Re-upping an old issue.

I'm helping a friend change his shot manual seats in his daughter's '00 Boxster 'S'. He has a set of '99 996 Carrera 8-way power seats to change as the color's correct. The passenger seat is plug-n-play but the driver's seat from the 996 is memory controlled.

I've checked the memory seat switch and it does not have the '+' & '-' leads like the passenger side does. Anyone know how to feed the electric in this one or does anyone know where to get a non-memory seat controller? The dealer's cost is quite expensive so I'm looking for a used standard 8-way power seat switch to change out.

Thanks,

Brooks

Thanks for the tip 'porscheminitech'!! I got it swapped out this week-end until... The clip (plastic!!) that holds the front horizontal switch broke on the LH driver's side so now I have to locate one of these. It's like the one shown on the RH side switch panel as shown.

Anyone have a spare? The quest continues....

The tracks are the same. Likely the connectors are not. So, the answer is "sorta".
