I have a friend looking at a 99 Boxster with 44k miles....very good condition....black on black....5 speed.....new top.... had 40k service done and clutch replaced. The car drives great and is very tight with no rattles. Carfax all positive. Asking price is 13,995.00......
Is this a good deal for him?
What maintenance issues should he be concerned about?
What us the max he should pay?

I just bought an '02 in arctic silver/black, 9/10 condition, no mechanical issues, with some tasteful mods (BBS Moda wheels, sport springs, JVC/iPod DVD head unit), 50K miles, for $14,900.
The seller also gave me the original wheels (perfect), tires (70% thread), a set of new Mintex pads, 3 gallons of Porsche antifreeze, touch-up paint, Bentley manual, original Becker CD unit.
I'd say mine was an excellent deal.
I think your friend can probably bring it down to around $13K.
(Kelly Blue Book value for an "excellent" '99 Boxster is $11K,
NADA guide for a "clean" '99 Boxster is $13.3)
New clutch? Get a PPI.
