Default PSM Stealth-disabled if the clamshell isn't completely down?

I drive a 2004 986S. At the autocross today, I closed the clamshell on a piece of thin twine (the stuff you get at Lowes to tie stuff down, practically no thickness to it) to tether my new suction cup camera mount in case it came loose, and it must have blocked the sensor or something because the "top half-open" indicator light was on the whole time. No big deal, the light may be on, but I know it's OK. Except that I'd swear PSM was stealth off, as I was sliding around all over the place without the car magically making me look good like it usually does. There was no indication it was turned off, but never an indication it was engaging, even when I was sliding sideways at highway speeds into a wall of cones (not fun, yet VERY fun at the same time!) and other places it always blinks a little amber "slow down, you idiot!" light at me.

After I moved the camera and closed the clamshell properly, PSM seemed to work just fine. Was this my imagination, or a known issue?

Here's the run with the worst issues (my worst run of the day, not coincidentally) if anyone's interested:

And yeah, the camera was vibrating way too bad; I liked the angle, but I don't think I'm going to mount it there again.
