My new Boxster
Hi Everyone,
Today, I traded my 2006 911 C4 for a 2008 Boxster. I loved my 911 to be sure but it suffered from a plethora of electrical (read computer) problems so I'm going to try on a Boxster. I know this is sort of backwards but so be it.

Cogito ....
I just purchased an '05 black S B-car and altho it has less ponies than my '07
C4S, it is quite a bit of fun. I think more so than the C4S.
I think when my lease on the '07 P-car is up .... I will just give it back. And, maybe in 2010 get a NEW Boxster S.
I could use 330 hp in the B-car, tho. Guess I'm just greedy, eh.
But, good for you, sir. Applause .... !

Hi All,
I picked the hottest muggiest day in NC to wash the Boxster and then apply a coat of Rejex. The pic is the "after" pic.
I'm sure there are many here who could give a better comparo of both cars but here goes:
the 911 felt more like a $100,000 vehicle meaning it felt very good but also a bit heavy, in a good and a bad way,
the Boxster feels good too, a tiny bit "light" with things like top operation a bit on the "not as solid" feel if that makes any sense,
the Boxster is a better handling vehicle than my 911, this is becoming more & more apparent with each drive,
the BOSE sound system isn't worth what you pay for it, my 911 had it, the Boxster doesn't,
the engine/exhaust sound from the Boxster is simply wonderful, no compare, I had the stock exhaust on my 911,
the cabin feels a bit "tight" w/o the rear seats in the 911 but who uses them anyway,
it's nice to have lockable storage both front and rear in the Boxster,
compared to my 911 (non-S) my Boxster (also non-S) is slower but enough power (and great sound as already mentioned) and great handling that I'm not sure I'll miss the extra power, if you love speed and power I'd recommend the Boxster S or the 911/911S,
the 911 has nicer lines than the Boxster,
both inside materials and outside fit & finish seem equal to the 911.
More (and better pics) as I get more acclimated to the Boxster and after engine break-in.

I could not agree with you more. And, altho I still have my C4S (and 993), I am not sure I will miss many things about the 911/997 when I 'give it back' in 9 months. Well, maybe the whole 911 deal I will miss. ??
Yes, as you say ... the 911S has gobs more low end power ... maybe like 70 or so more ponies ... but, my Boxster S feels smaller/tighter/better balanced and maybe handles a bit more 'fun' than the 997. It's just a SOtP deal, I guess. I know the 997 will kick the crap out of the Boxster off the line and deeper down the track, too. BTAIM.
The cockpit may have less bling than it's more expensive brethren, but it still feels like a Porsche to me. I don't feel it being much different in size front seat wise from the 911 either. I'm like 6' 2" and 210# and I can wear a ball cap in the B-car without hitting the top and feel pretty comfy in the seat.
I'm happy that you like your new ride, m'friend. Drop the top and enjoy the breezes and nice voice coming from the rear end.

Looks even better man!
Thanks for the narrative on the Carrera - I have been kicking the thought around when my lease expires on my Cayenne S to pick up a 997. Then i would have the best of both worlds..

Jet .... you could alway purchase my 2007 C4S (Meteor grey) in April. I doubt if it will have 12k on the clock. Sticker was 104K. It's PERFECT !

But, that said, when we decided to lease the 997 C4S, we had 5 silver cars. We needed something 'less silver'. And, I must say that the meteor grey 997 is quite striking. And, very stealth, too.
