Are the Boxster 986 and Carrerra 996 Interiors interchangeable? If so, to what extent?

Pretty sure most interior bits are "interchangable", but there were two or three different interior finishes over the years, not to mention minor changes to some of the switchgear layout, so you'll need to keep an eye on that. I think the Boxster was a little behind the 911 in those updates to the finish.

I have completely stripped out my 1999 Carrera C2 metropol blue interior to make it a track car, and wanted to accurately post which model-years of 996 and 986 use this interior (and if it really is exactly the same or not). I know that Porsche upgraded the 996 interior in 2002, but wasn't sure when they did for the Boxster.
