Do they require a core?

The PO of our was a bit ham fisted and the console has some scratches near the seat belts and the asstray.

I would love to swap that thing out... it's one of the only interior flaws we have.

Yes - they require a core, or it is more expensive.

When painting it yourself, just sand, prime and paint? Is it really that simple.

If so, I'm gonna order some polar silver from automotivetouchup.com in spray cans and have at it.

The factory finish is not particularly receptive to primer or paint. You want to remove all of it and get down to bare plastic if you want the result to be worth your effort.

But yes, it really is that simple. Just take your time and follow good painting practices meaning allowing the proper amount of time between coats, using many light coats instead of one heavy one, and keeping dust and contaminents out of your painting area.

Thanks. So a good heavy sanding to start. I think this will be a project for October.
