Default Airbags deployed, seatbelt sensors and Airbag light.

Hello everybody.
I recently purchased a wrecked 02 Boxster and already replaced deployed airbags, took it to a respected Porsche shop but they were unable to reset the light (reappearing code from both pretentioners). I called the dealer and they quoted me $200 per side to replace the entire seatbelt systems, which seams to be in working order otherwise.
My question is what part of the system throws the code after the accident, seatbelt pretensioner or the buckle? Is there any way bo bypass the sensor? I do not want to just black tape the light, but $400 to fix the light is alitle stiff.
I already searched this forum, but most people seem to have the problem of bad grounds.
Any input about pretensioners and sensor is apreciated.
Alex.
P.S. the car is black/tan w 77k miles on it and a blast to drive

There is a small charge that makes the seatbelts go tight when you are in an accident. Once this goes off you can't reuse them. I have a set of black seatbelts out of a '97 that should work. I will make you a deal on them since they are collecting dust in my garage.

^ pretensioners. I had a problem w/ the wire harness going to them in my Z in 2005, was warrantied thank goodness cuz the wire harness to them (part of the SRS system) was over $300 ... so 200 a side @ Porsche, or used-from-a-rennlister isn't too bad.

or you could cage it, take out those pesky 3-point belts and club race it BWAHAHAH

Thanks for the input.
Caging it and installing a 5-point sounds nice, but its my daily driver. May do it to my 928 though.
Cheapest ones I found so far are from Sunset at $122/side.
Chris, I am not a contributing member, so I dont think I can use PM function yet (may be wrong), but e-mail me at

Thanks.

The pre-tensioners are only on certain year cars. I think it started in 02 if I remember correctly. Belts from a 97 dont have this and won't help you with your airbag light problem. You need new seat belts with pre-tensioners to correct the faults.

Thanks for the Info, everybody.
Chris, I checked the PET and it doesn't look like it is going to fit either, but whats the part number on your seatbelts anyway?
