Default oil seperator problem/ low oil pressure

My 2000 boxster with 75k has developed the bad oil seperator issue I beleive. My symptoms are consistant with the posts that I have read, blows smoke on start up and randomly while driving etc. My concern is that in very hot weather now i get a flickering oil pressure warning light at idle, do you guys think it is possible that the blown oil seperator can be dumping enough oil into the intake that the engine isnt seeing proper oil pressure below 1k rpm? Thanks!

Hmm, a bad AOS being the cause of low oil pressure isnt typical. It could be either the oil has to many additives that the driver poured into the oil, Oil used during oil change was thinner than 0w40, oil pump isnt working to full efficencey, crank-rod-cam bearings are worn badly, your Oil Pressure Sending unit is bad OR since a bad AOS can leak oil on the floor or burn it.... you could be very low on oil, so make sure the car is on level ground and check the level with the digital oil level on the dash, then check the dip stick in the rear trunk.

oil level is good, doing an oil change tomorrow. Engine sounds healthy and runs strong, this should be interesting

Yeah, if your lucky it'll be a degrading oil sending unit.

I changed the oil and installed a new AOS, all is well! No oil pressure warning even after hard driving in 100 degree weather! and all of the smoking is gone. Whew
