Default Opinions on '04 Boxster S purchase.

Opinions welcomed and appreciated.

Here are the details of the deal:

2004 Boxster S
CPO warranty until 08/2010
13,300 miles
Clean carfax



Price $30,500

So what do you think, good, bad, ugly?

Likely average. I would check with KBB, NADA and EDMUNDS for what re-sale values are in your area. Boxsters are made in such large numbers that there is no real reason to pay a premium unless you feel you "must have this car!" I also wouldn't put 100% in Carfax. They have been known to be wrong/inaccurate.

Definitely not over relying on carfax, just stating that it was clean for the 1 owner. KBB supplied a horrible estimate; stating that retail on the car should be about 37k and edmunds resulted in 36k. I find that KBB, NADA, and EDMUNDS are worthless on certain makes and models.

The option sheet you've posted says this is a base model, not an S. Also states color as midnight blue, not black. Is this for the same car?

From what I can tell, by searching online, the 'S' is designated by the '320' after the 986. And the body color is defined by option E9.

If it's an S, it sounds like a very good price, especially with such low mileage. Of course, get a PPI.
