Default Potential Commuting Issue

Am I doing any damage to my '01 S by commuting in it every day? My commute is less than 1 mile each way and never long enough for the engine to properly warm up. I generally get it up to operating temperature at least a couple times a week and frequently (at least once a month) head out on the highway for a weekend. Just want to be sure I'm not doing any damage. Has anyone had problems with this?

Walk or ride a bike to work.

You may want to look at your coolant cap and see if there is any funky looking stuff developing under the cap.

while short trips are not optimum, as long as you get the car nice and warmed up a few times a week you should be fine.

Someone asked this same question on Car Talk radio maybe two weeks ago. The caller has <4mi communte in CT. Long story short, the Car Talk brothers told her that if she can make longer trips on the weekend (get the engine to normal op temp), the car/engine will be just fine.
