Default CDR 220 Display Issue

The display on my CDR 220 has a problem. The other day, it was slow to update - for example, I changed from FM to a CD but the display still showed the FM station for a few mintues even though the CD started playing normally.

Later that day, the display just went out - it seems as though it is still backlit, but there are no characters displayed. Everything else functions normally.

I did a search, but turned up no similar issues. Anyone have any ideas?

try cleaning the electrical contacts on the back of the faceplate with electrical contact cleaner or a pencil eraser.
