Default 2000 boxster S oil mixing in with water

I'm looking into buying a 2000 boxster S, but the water and oil are getting mixed in together, is the engine terminal, or if it has an oil cooler could that just have gone bad? thanks

Could it be a cracked cylinder head? How many miles are on it?

Just wondering, did you happen to post about this on another forum?

All this talk about early 3.2L engine mixing oil and water is starting to scare the crap out of me.

It does have a water/oil cooler that could be the culprit. You really need to get it checked out as it could be a heador gasket

No, I didn't I saw one up for sale and the owner said it has that problem, it only has 74,000 miles on it, have you heard about this problem before?

Sadly I have heard of it 3 or 4 times before.

How does the owner know there is oil in the water? Is there oil in the coolant tank reservoir?

I talked to 99 firehawk(Brad) about this since he is a P-Car mechanic;

"I havent seen an intermix in a few years, I think 99% of them have been changed by now. There was a run of cars with bad oil coolers mixing the fluids."

IF it is the oil cooler is should be $150-175 in parts and 3-4 hours in labor to replace. No biggie.
