Smile Too good to be true supercharged Boxster S?

Hi

I'm interested in buying a Boxster S and came accross this ad:

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...e=&cardist=291

This sounds too cheap for the mod it has. Carfax is clean.

What do you guys think?

thanks!

it could be a car with the imagine auto supercharger, but the price seems off, maybe because the idea of replacing an engine that could explode is scary

if it's legit and in good shape I'd think it would be a steal

besides the graphics and that "turbo" badging... looks good.

You always wonder about forced induction on cars that were not specifically designed for it.

PPI.

Sounds like that car has the potential to be expensive in the future

Looks decent. But that dealership OBVIOUSLY knows NOTHING about Porsches!

Oh, and if you get it, I'd leave the turbo badge at the dealership...and schedule another date w/ them to remove the tacky graphics. They should do that for free.

I think I'm going to lay off this car.

Can you honestly tell a difference with the 8HP bump in the 2003 Boxster S?

no, the 2003 is heavier, so that 8hp isn't any faster

what you CAN tell the difference in is the glass window and the glove compartment

I once had a local used dealer ask me "what is the difference between a Carrera and a Boxster?"

He was serious.

I walked out.

Default Supercharged Boxster

Hello
I had a supercharged Boxster for about a year and the supercharger is a great set up.

I have videos of it here.
www.youtube.com/gwhand

I did take it off because I could not get it to dyno at what I was told it would. The car did dyno at 207 to the wheels.

The supercharger I sold was installed on another 2.5 with great success. He has since decided to upgrade to a 3.4

Hence, the sc is now for sale.
the link is
http://986forum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14065

The shop that has done some work for me can help with the install, I have pictures and can help in any way.

I have no connection with the current owner I'm just passing on some info.

Keep in mind, when SuperCharging any car it's imperative that you start with a healthy platform to begin with. The programming in the kit we run is such that it retards the system to a safe level when any codes are thrown so the vehicle can be properly diagnosed without failure. As a side note, we have not experienced a single engine failure with the kit we run on both the 2.5 and the 3.2 Boxsters, and the original 2.5 liter car we developed the kit on has recently turned over 160,000. (kit was installed around 100k)

That being said, proper installation and maintinance are quite obviously a must.

Well I ended up buying a CPO Boxster S.

I guess I wussed out but a Porsche out of warranty was already scary enough for me I didn't need the added stress of a supercharger.

I'll just wait until I have the money for a 2007 Boxster S in a few years and enjoy my 1st Porsche for now with the added peace of mind of a warranty.

I looked at it today, 75K is alot with a SC and knows how long its been on.
They also got it from an auction and it blew some blue smoke when it started.
They wouldn't let me drive it without leaving a deposit. Those stickers have to go.
The people seem pretty shady.
