Looking to replace my factory sport seats with ones that will:
1) Have good side bolstering and;
2) Provide more headroom
How much more headroom can one get in a Boxster? What seats provide more headroom than others? I would like to retain sliders. Fixed back or reclining seatbacks are fine.
Any pics of say..Recaro speed/SRD? Sparcos? Kirkeys? GT3 seats would be nice, but they are out of my price range.

For a reference point, I'm 5'10.5", and sitting in my GT3s with the B-K floor mounts (9080 on 9042) the wheel impinges on my line of sight pretty significantly. I'm putting in the stock rails and using the B-K adapters (9079).

I just installed the 996 GT3 seats in my 98. and head room is ok.. I'm 6'1" I have plenty of head room, but have to get used to slouching to see traffic lights! also getting in and out with the top up is a chore!!!!
P.S. the wife hates then!!! another reason to install them.
(honey if you read this I"M ONLY KIDDING!!!)

I've researched that too. All I can come up with is the roll over bar extension. I'm not real clear as to how it attaches, but I'm told it is removable. At $700.00 though, it's kind of steep.

I already have the BK bar... it "works" but I'd like more room.. Bought mine used.. for about 1/2 price of new.
Keep the pics coming.
* I know of a few who have done a "foam ectomy" to remove foam from the seat base cushion, but it doesn't seem worth the effort, at least not yet

This is curious.... I am 6'2".
I have adopted a new seating position that is further back but bolt upright. I did this to have less of a bend in my leg for heeling and toeing. With this position my helmet barely clears the roof.
In my older position, closer to the wheel but slightly (barely) inclined, I had at least two fingers of headroom under the roof.
At $700 a rollbar extension.... seriously, maybe a used hardtop is a better idea. I know it adds weight but....

The added weight issue will not really be a factor until your track skills have gotten to a point where you are on coilovers and R-compounds.... and even then.... ya know.

I get the hardtops in on occasion.... and I gotta tell you they go for $1100 or more on e-bay. not including the mounting hardware if your boxster isn't equipt with it. funny thing is the 996 tops which are much bigger only bring 1/4 the price ! go figure

I am 6'1" and don't have any issues...
I have found that if you do not put the seat all the way back, but instead come forward a bit, then use the LOWERING lever on the side to lower the seat toward the ground...then finally go back and incline. Works well for me.
