Non-smoker Insert
I just bought a non-smoker insert to replace the ashtray in the middle console of my '04 Boxster S. I searched the archives for directions on how to replace the ashtray, but didn't find any.
Anybody have tips on how to swap it out? Probably simple, but thought I'd ask for advice from some of you who have done this before.
Appreciate the help...cheers

iirc, pull the tray part out, it just slides right out
then, there's 2 screws that hold it in, they're not really screws but plastic pop fasteners, so they may not unscrew well, you can pull them out with nose pliers without hurting anything
there is a light that lights up the ash tray, unplug that and leave it dangling
there's also the window switches, unplug those, pop them out of the plastic frame, pop them into the new frame the way they were, then plug them in
put the new tray in, replace those 2 pop fasteners, and lay the little rubber insert inside
enjoy it
