Default Auto vs Manual

I was looking at some boxsters this weekend.

Seems like a lot of Auto Trans out there.

Wanted to get peoples thoughts on the performance of an Auto trans on a Boxster.

Also, how tunable is a regular boxster (non S) version. What are some reasonable power expectations for modest upgrades?

thanks,

Tip is based on an automatic trans, so it has a torque converter, so it wil shift with hesitation.
Expect 10 to 20 hp with filter+exhaust+ecu.
Nothing like a 951.

imo, the only reason to consider the TIP is if you will be using it in the usual Wash DC stop and go traffic. I've a/xd a few (base and an S) and while I thought I could outsmart it, I couldn't. Just put it in "first" and let the computer do the rest.

As for mods, well, there are other boxster boards that claim 20hp is an "easy" gain thru muffler, filters and ecu re-flash. Not sure I believe any claims made by the "butt dyno" vs a real one though

---> shameless plug - I am selling my 2000 Non S boxster. 5spd manual (the correct transmission and Located nearby
