OK so I decided to put my car on a diet. I tried a search but does anyone know the weight delta between the softtop and all the bits vs. a hard top shell? As a followup could someone point me in the direction of a hard top shell.
Many thanks in advance also the driver is on a diet as well

I thought I saw on the DC area Craigslist a white hard top and stand... $1500 ( http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/m...382616643.html )
Not sure of actual weights though. My guess is a hardtop is lighter than the softop and all its motors etc. Might try the board for the spec boxster website. I am sure there are right ups as guys have removed weight from those cars...

Think I recall something in the 45 too 50 pound range. It is aluminum. If it were not so wide one person operation. If that is your yellow car, think about a black top. The contrast sets it off. Same color is a totally different looking car at least to me. I did the seal grey metalic with an artic silver top.

Bump...
Has anyone come up with a figure for how much weight is saved by removing the soft top assembly and fitting a hard top? This was the most relevant thread I could find, but the answer above is a little vague. I'm not sure what figure he's talking about.
Thanks,
Graham

The softtop weighs 37lbs excluding the convertible motor and transmission (~10lbs).
Stock hardtop weighs 42lbs with glass rear window. (only 2-3lbs savings with Lexan)
Aftermarket roof skins weighs ~15 lbs, but you will also have to run arm restraints.
