Window Trim on a 2003 S
I just got my front windshield replaced on my 2003 Boxster S. They put on a silver retainer trim, which really stands out and doesn't look that nice. They claim that the standard Porsche part for all S models (pre 987) is silver. I called the local Porsche dealer (who gave them the part) and they said the same thing. Is that right?

Here it is, a Boxster S windshield that was being replaced.
2.5 and base 2.7 do not have the silver trim. If you are not the original owner then maybe the windshield had been replaced before your ownership and the correct trim kit was not used. The silver trim is just for looks. The hardtop for an S also has a silver trim piece, around the glass window.
If you have decent before and after pictures I might be able to tell you what is going on.

I'm not the original owner, so it probably got replaced and they used a black piece. That doesn't make much sense to me though, why put a silver trim on an otherwise all black car (go Raiders!?)? But then I also dislike the gray intakes on the 987s. I've experimented with a black sharpie, and it looks like I can de-silver the car pretty easily.
Thanks for the info.
