I am considering upgrading to an Alpine CDA-9883 HU and new 6 channel amp in my '03 Boxster. Anyone out there that has put an Alpine in their Boxster? How does it fit / look in the console. The 9883 has a variable color display, so I should be able to match the stock gage light color pretty closely.

I have one that controls my iPod directly, so the iPod sits in the console out of sight. It fits fine, the angled display is kinda blingy/kinda functional. The tone controls via an equalizer system are incomprehensible to me though and I'm pretty good with that stuff. Other than that it's great. Mine runs though a 4x70W amp with 8" subs in the doors and BA speakers in the dash.
Good luck!

I ahve MB Quart 6.5" in the doors, MB Quart 4" in the dash and Infinity Kappa's in the rear storage shelf. Now changing the HU and adding a 6 x 100 amp.
Looks like the Alpine CDA-9883 is the one I'm going with.... also direct iPod control. Did you run the iPod cable back through the center console to the storage bin then ? Thats what I was thinking of doing.....

Yep, I put a small hole in my storage bin and pulled the wire up from the bottom. There was a little module that I left under the window switches (next to my hacked garage-door opener). I bought an iPod case with velcro flaps and put 2 pieces of velcro on the floor and sides of the bin to keep the iPod from sliding around.
