Default Help, CEL after EVOM intake install

Installed the EVOM intake on my 2000 Boxster S Sunday afternoon, and it sounds great. But driving home this afternoon the CEL came on, and the codes were P1128 and P1130 for Oxygen sensing adaptation, idle range, bank 1, and Oxygen sensing adaptation, idle range, bank 2.

I don't understand what could be wrong. The intake comes with a guarentee of no CEL, and I made sure that I reconnected everything properly, so what's going on?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Tierce

not sure what you mean "is the intake on the body"? it's not touching the body.

the maf only fit one way on the pipe, so I'm pretty sure it's correct. and yes, everything is tight.

Sounds like you need to pull your MAF and clean it. I did the same thing and thought DAMN EVO intake is causing the MAF failure. When i pulled out the maf and looked at it (cause I didn't really when installing the EVO intake) turns out it is so dirty that I wonder how it even worked in the first place.

Read through that, thank Mike Focke later.

if you can see that your maf is dirty, you have other problmes (missing air cleaner) or amazing eye sight

Tierce, you didn't oil the filter did you?

The EVO filter is pre-oiled. When I installed mine, I wasn't sure if the filter needed oiling or not, and the paperwork didn't really say one way or the other, so I emailed EVO. They told me absolutely NOT to oil it, it could foul the MAF sensor.

No, I didn't oil the filter. And the mass air flow isn't that old. I found some insulation touching the filter on one side, so I'll cut that out and see if it changed anything.

I'd check for leaks.

I have had the Evo on my car for over 5 years with no issues.

What makes you think that a filter is a 100% efficient item? Over many miles lots gets past the filter. The silver plates on the maf tend to get coated with all kinds of black crap. I have pulled about 3 mafs from different porsches this year so far and most of them the bottom silver plate was totally coated and black. Once sprayed with cleaner all the sudden you can see the metal underneath. All 3 of them had stock filters

So yeah, you can see the maf is dirty. None of the cars have other problems.
