a Gt3 engine has 360 Hp an NO WAY 400 HP. only a Gt3 CUP engine highly tuned can get to 400 HP but this is not streetble in a boxster. It also cost at least $50000 new.
More than a new boxster just for the engine without the installation cost. Is this worth?

Why not just bore out the 3.2 to a 3.4L and now worry about actually "swapping" engines anyway? Seems like you could save some money going that route. Anyone?

Thanks for the info!

BTW, put up some new pictures today:

WORTH IT ?? WELL, ... IT DEPENDS HOW UNIQUE AND DIFFERENT YOU WANT TO BE. BASED ON WHAT I SEE ON THE RENNLIST, THERE ARE A FEW PEOPLE IN THAT LEAGUE.

400 HP AND STREETABLE ? ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE. BELIEVE ME !
IT ONLY TAKES TIME AND MONEY. THE USUAL FORMULA.

GREEK-TURBO-RACER...is it possible to "Bring Your Own Engine" to a 3.6L conversion? In other words...suppose someone scores a 3.6L engine on eBay. Can FVD do the install? (Assuming the usual formula of time and money... )

Boxster 3.4, with regards to the exhaust... Apparently PCNA has confirmed that the stock Boxster exhaust has been modified for 2003. The new exhaust creates a 'modified audio presence' or something like that... In other words, it will sound different - hopefully they've added a little more snarl. If this is the case, AND if the new exhaust bolts on, it will be a great upgrade. You might want one for your 3.4L Box...

HELLO SEAN. WE HAVE LEARNED THAT WITH THE CURRENT 3.6 MOTOR, " MECHANICAL RELIABILITY " INTERNALLY IS MUCH IMPROVED. EVEN WITH SOME INTERNAL " MASSAGING ", SO FAR SO GOOD.

LIKE THE GT3 ENGINE, WE WOULD CHANGE SOME INTERNALS, DO RE-PROGRAMMING OF ECU ON OUR DYNO, AND BUILD PROPER EXHAUST FOR CAR. OF COURSE, EVERYTHING WOULD BE INSTALLED ALL AT ONCE.

Theo, I too am interested in a 3.6 L conversion. How can I get info/pricing on one for my 2002 Boxster S. I emailed FVD, but i got a reply that the person was on vacation until mid-august. I would like to get some info sooner than that, can you help me out? Is the 3.6L conversion a strait out engine swap, or do you convert the 3.2L of the S?

GREEK -
WHat about a 3.4 into a "S" in place of a 3.2? Same question, if I buy a 3.4 L engine elsewhere and have it shipped to your location, have my car sent to you as well, what would the price be to do the swap?

Just to be clear, I already have TTP Headers, EVO Intake and ECU programming on my 3.2, so I won't need headers or intake, but perhaps some 3.4 ECU tuning on the dyno.

Would that be $4-5K then or am I missing something?

HEY KEN. IF YOU FOUND A 3.4, WE WILL PUT IT IN FOR YOU.

YOU NEED ECU UPGRADE AND SPORT CATS. SAY,... ANOTHER 3,000.00 FOR PARTS.

Ken, If you don't mind, I'd like to tag along on this discussion as well. Not necessarily the pricing, but the install info, etc. Man, I gotta find an engine!

Just went over 1200 miles on the 3.4 986 this weekend. Some impressions.

She LOVES gas. I don't know what the mileage has dropped to & I don't really care but it is substantially lower than before. Again I could care less about this but just wanted to post the info.

LOVES 95 octane or greater. I have run some Sunoco 100 and it makes a marked improvement over the Amoco 94 I usally have in the tank.

New clutch is wonderful. I was worried that the Sachs woiuld have heavier action than original but it is actually lighter action than before.

The power is addictive and you never get tired of feeling the pull at 4k and up. The engine sound is incredible at full throttle near redline. I shot some video last night (pulling 100 around the big downhill sweeper) and I will digitize in the next few days so you can hear it for yourself.

New victims of the sleeper:
M36 BMW M3 convertible - still looking for the M46
87 944 Turbo
01 560 SL - (He initiated)
01 BMW 540i - (his license plate said "bye")

Anyone looking for an incredible car at a great price should find a clean 97-99 Boxster and then find a 3.4 from a wreck. Have FVD do the install and for well under $50k you'll have a nice droptop "UBERCAR". Add some 18" turbo twist take offs and the Boxster drives and looks "wicked fast" <img src="graemlins/burnout.gif" border="0" alt="[burnout]" />

Had an incredible drive last night. It felt like a fall evening with low temp and humidity. Car ran great in the cool air.

On the way back home I stopped to snap this picture.
