Neither Turby or many others have done that here. Instead they antoganize and start downward spirals with their comments made without experience or firsthand knowledge of the subject matter. How the hell do you know what experiance I have? I have driven almost all cars that are worthy. Yes even a boxter 3.4. What was my original comment that set you off? That the boxter was less than a 968? Instead of thrashing what I said, why didnt you point out the pros, and cons of each car in your opinion or your "EXPERIANCE" If you have any other than your current car......it seems you are comments are one sided and biased. I choose not to own any boxter there fore I cant discuss it? Whatever man, where I live there are a overwhelming abundance of boxters.........and I have yet to be "flashed" back by one. 3.4, you are only comfirming what most others suspect of most boxter owners........you are a *****.

Turdby,

Why don't you just leave us Boxster fans alone and go back to figuring out how many 18" subwoofers you can fit into your Hummer. I bet your looking to put some 24" chrome wheels on it too you poser.

I'll refrain from the outright name calling and leave you to continue your search for typos.

You'll never see me in your rear view with that under powered Vortec 4 ton POS GM.

Boxster owners are the nicest, most outgoing, helpful, most approachable group out there. If you were not so abrasive you would see that but you never will. Your opinion of me and them is as off base as all your other comments.

If you have driven a 3.4 Boxster who did the conversion? When and Where? Who owns it? Have an email for him?

Another lie from the Turd.

OK, 3.4 I see your point. I guess we didn't meet under the "nicest" terms. You're right, I'll be the first non-boxster owner to say, I will not post on this forum anymore. I'm afraid the next time, it would just start more bashing. Boxster 3.4, enjoy your Porsche and enjoy the quality and tradition that it posseses.

This has been entertaining.

I lease a Boxster and own a 951(944 Turbo).

Guess I'm bi-Porschial.

Thumbs up

Alright you guys, time to step up to the plate!

I agree that this thread has been highly enteraining, as has the "Boxster/S vs. ???" thread. As a matter of fact, they have been so-o-o-o entertaining (not to mention enlightening) that I think this stuff belongs on ... the Jerry Springer Show for the rest of America to witness, first-hand!

There's the idea, now it's up to one of you enterprising folk to take it to the producers and get yourselves that "15 minutes of fame" (or perhaps 15 minutes more, for some of you ) that we're all allocated (according to Andy Warhol, I believe).

The only problem I see with this is that given 5 minutes together, you'll no doubt find an awful lot of P-car-passion based common ground and all the hostility will drain away. Heck, it's already started here, what with Ken & 3.4 & Silver, among others, and it is great to see. (The several weeks it has taken in this online forum being a testament to the difference between online and face-to-face communication). Jerry will be left there scratching his head and watching his ratings plummet.

Thanks for all the great laughs, stories and insights, gentlemen. This thread really got me thinking about the attributes of all the different P-car models, and I found something new to appreciate in all of them.

- Brian

(Oh, and 3.4, I thought it was hilarious that you said that you would take the higher ground and "refrain from outright name calling" and then called him "Turdby" and "the Turd!" Well done!)

Road and Track got the Boxster S on the skidpan to 0.93g on the same test the 996Turbo got to 0.96 g.

This test compares the Boxster S with one of its rivals the 996 Turbo.

"Porsche Boxster S
The Boxster engine is smooth and linear. On the track, the S gives you much more feedback through the steering than the 911. By comparison, the Turbo feels like the contact patch is changing all the time in corners. The Boxster is more settled, less busy."

"Porsche 911 Turbo
The Turbo's power is fabulous. It's a very quick car with enormous power that requires a lot of attention. The engine is the overwhelming attribute, and the gearbox is also excellent. But, this car is a beast."

Quite simply the Boxster is one of the most entertaining and best drives you can buy for any money.
It has excellent steering with great feel, the chassis too is top class with loads of feed back to the driver about whats going on. The handeling is good provding thrills for the novice and expert alike, great grip as well.

In all the reviews have read in the UK motoring press and the few I have read in the states the Boxster and Boxster S always tend to come out on top even after 6 years in production with only minor changes. Not all Porsche models have been this successful !

I could print loads of motoring articles to support this view. Here is a link to the Road and Track article

<a href="http://www.roadandtrack.com/columns/on_the_road/articleDisplay.asp?articleID=154&page=7" target="_blank">Road and Track 996 Turbo vs Boxster S</a>

It's not all about speed its about enjoyment and the boxsters provide a combination of this, value and practicality that very few cars can even get close to.

Once the 275bhp version gets released it will be an even stronger proposition and I am amazed that they are considering a 320bhp RS version, with the right suspension and tyres that would give the 996 turbo a few problems.

If its all ladies that drive them in your area , then perhaps that proves that these ladies are a bit brighter than thier menfolk ?

I recommend a test drive to anyone, there are just superb .

1983 944 MSRP $19K, about $33.5K in 2002 dollars

1986 951 MSRP $36k? (I don't recall exactly) about $52k today

1989 944S2 MSRP $42k, about $60k today

1990 944S2 Cabriolet MSRP $50K, about $69k today

The 944's were pretty expensive cars. I think it's fair to say that the 944 fit into the Porsche lineup in a manner similar to the Boxster.
Cheaper, yes, but also great fun and very capable cars. When I look at the Boxster I wonder why the 996 is more expensive, just like I wonder why a 911 in 1990 cost more than my S2 considering the quality and engineering that went into it. I suspect that some of the more expensive Porsches simply cost more because people are willing to pay more. That does not make them better cars.

One thing you can tell from this thread is which Porsche owners have class. Something that does not seem to describe the owners of any particular model, it seems.

What I mean is that you can't compare a $4,000 car(944), against one that cost $30,000(Boxster). Most people consider the 944 to be a cheap stransportation(like a first car). I understand that they might have been nice many years ago, but today they are just old and crusty looking. Nobody want's to be seen in a 944, unlike a Boxster. You get what you pay for....Always.
