Question 2002 Boxster S Prices

I visited a Porsche dealer today in Dallas to look at pre-owned '00-'01 Boxster S.

Was told limited inventory, but was quoted what seemed like an unbelievable price on a NEW 2002 S.

Black, 17" wheels, painted caps, Sport Touring Package, and mats. Quote from the dealer: $49,900.
MSRP from the dealer: $55,770.

Seems well below researched prices. Is this too good to be true or is this common?

Thanks

-Eric

Thumbs up

Are you sure it wasn't a regular Boxster? That seems very low for a brand new S. The MSRP for a new S is $51,600 and that's without any options! The quote you got was well below that price.

Good question, but it is the S. I checked it out on the lot. Great looking car. He was taking the 18" wheels off and replacing with 17" to get it below 50K. He told me that he's never discounted so low.

Oh...in that case, I honestly think it's a good deal. I ordered a 2002 Boxster S last December, it should be at the dealer in May or June. Here's
what I got:

Speed Yellow/Black Partial Leather/Black Top
Heated Seats
Sport Package
Floor Mats
Color Wheel Crest
CD Case

The price came down to $53,600 after some negotiated. So in my opinion, you're getting a pretty good deal!

Cool

Yes, dealers are really dealing on new 2002 Boxster S's right now.

I recently (on Jan. 30th) bought a new 2002 Speed Yellow S here in Nashville and got a $6880 discount off MSRP.

My car stickered for $59,380 and I paid $52,500. It had the sport package, 18" Rad wheels, painted center console, headrest crests, painted wheel caps, etc.
