Snow tires

Hello,
Well, after selling my 1980 SC, I am back in the game again with an '02 Boxster. I live near Detroit and this will be my only car. I am assuming that snow tires and rims will be in order...is this correct?
Any suggestions on what to get? My car has 17's, but I am interested in simple steel 16's with Blizzaks. Is there a recommended online source or should I simply buy locally?
Thanks,
Mike

Welcome back to the Porsche fold. Porsche AG conducts extensive winter tire tests and the Dunlop M2 is topshelf in their tests. Try a Rennlist search for the tire test or possibly at the local dealership.
We own the Dunlop M2's which are fitted to our Audi S6 wagon. Excellent winter tires IMHO.
Although the Michelin's which the Dunlop's replaced were topshelf too, the M2's drive better.
Maybe a set of take-off 16" Porsche rims could serve as deadicated snow rims for ya.
Try the <a href="http://www.tirerack.com" target="_blank">www.tirerack.com</a> for a solution to the steel wheel issue.
