Thumbs up OT: The new Nissan 350Z

Hey guys, i'm posting this on the Boxster forum just to throw some stuff out there. The new Z is coming from nissan next year, after a 6 year hiatus from U.S. shores it seems as though Nissans done their homework with this car and they're bringin it to the states. The stats are as follows: 280 hp, 3100 lbs, for an opening price UNDER $30,000. It's gonna be a Boxster beater for a lot less than the cost of getting into a Boxster. I sure as hell hope Porsches got something up their sleeve for this one. Granted a Nissan will never be a Porsche, it's still gonna be a pretty bitchin ride with awesome handling, a close-ratio six-speed box and believe it or not it looks pretty damn nice too (for pics check out nissandriven.com). Anyway, this Boxster turbo and Boxster 3.4 is really getting my blood pumping, because i like the Boxster other than the fact that it's sorta low on power in my opinion.

I'm with ya.

Want to get a new Boxster - cruisin this forum to see what people do to get more power. The S handles great but it doesn't have the 'porschness' of my 964 - doors clunk, etc.

I'm heading to the nissan dealer to get some money down on that 350Z - drove a new altima and that engine is a doosey.

Bottom line is speed cost money, how fast can you afford to go? A Honda S2000 will bury any Boxster on the street or track, but if you go to the right tuner with your piggy bank you can turn the tables.

Am I the only person who would love a Boxster S, but refuses to own a convertable? I love the great handling, mid engine, 250HP. But I want a coupe! Just curious.

Before speaking about performance aspects of cars. Do your homework. I've test driven a Boxter S and a S2000. Unless your sporting a Comptech supercharger kit under the hood I'd have to disagree with the fact that it would be a boxter s. Maybe on the track down to it's extremely highstrung power band. Off the line the Boxter would eat it. If you care to argue. Boxter S 5.5 seconds 0-60 S2000 5.8 seconds 0-60. Plus the boxter would spank it on turns due to the fact that it is mid-engined.....
