Post Engine Blow Up Warning

My friend had a Boxster and in the mail he received a warning letter from PAG about the Boxster motor catching fire.

It seems as, while driving - if you are a smoker - upon throwing a cigarette out the window cigarette butts have been sucked into the air intakes in front of the rear wheels and have got caught in the motor and in PAG's words caused the motor to explode.

Has anyone received this?

Sue enough I happened to be in the Porsche dealership and I saw the very engine(taken out of boxster) melted and charred and you're rt the owner was a smoker and its definitely went thru the air vent and sucked into the engine. Supposedly the air vent has a filter and made out of paper and that caught on fire and thereafter the engine did as well.

The one we received said essentially the same thingabout cigarette butts beind sucked into the engine compartment, until the part about "explode" or "blow-up".

It merely said there was a remote chance of a fire starting. But some had.

Perhaps your friend's was optioned differently

Serves them right for throwing a cigarette out of the window.
