I've been driving my Boxster S since the day I bought it with Pirelli P Zero tires..

What do you all think about these tires?
What do you all think the best tires are for the Boxster?
Did anyone lower there Boxster S? Is it worth it, and does the handling really improve? My dealer suggested to do it so I would appreciate any input...

People generally say that Bridgestone S-03s work just as well and wear better than Pirellis.

I don't know anything about lowering.

I had the P-zeros,they sucked(in my opinion).Didnt like the feel of them.They also wore out very fast.I have Yokohama AVS Sport now,much better.Very progressive at the limit.

I agree with you, I don't like how the Pirelli perform.. They are more expensive than Koala ********* and I'm sure other much cheaper tires perform just as well if not better...

I heard a lot of good things on the Bridgestones, I might try them next..

Try some Yokohamas. That's become my tire of choice of late, and when I buy some 18s for my Box that is what will be on them (I've got nearly new Michelin Pilots on my 17s). Two models to consider: AVS ES100 - fantastic grip for a bargain price (9/10 performance, 5/10 price), and AVS Sports - Best street tire I've used at any price (10/10 performance, 8/10 price).

I replaced my 17" Pirelli P Zeros that came with the car, even though they had about 40% of the tread left. They were just too loud. Also felt slippery when pushed to the limit at DE. I replace with Yoko AVS Sports, and increased size on front from 205 to 225 to reduce understeer. Car is smoother and much quieter, and handling is better, but larger front tire may have something to do with that.

Not a Boxster owner, but... PZeros suck. I switched to Bridgestone S02 in both cars (964, 951) and love the way they grip, wear, and look.

I have heard a lot of good comments on the Yokohamas AVS Sports. I plan on going with those next time around.

on my 328iS i have Potenza S-03s and absolutely love them. they grip well, and wear well. also not absurdly priced like michelin and pirelli. though i haven't driven on pirelli's i'd like to, sound like wonderful tires.

I had Pzeros and they lasted me 12,000 miles which included 8 autocross events and 9 days of DE plus daily driving. I could have gotten about 15-18k out of them if i continued street use only. I upgraded to michelin pilot sport cups like alot of the 993 guys run at DE. Boy, what a difference. Stick like glue and I dropped about 2-2.5 seconds of my usual times against my competition in class. The difference in DE is phenominal and my instuctors always ask what the heck I have on. The tire rack says they are good for about 50 heat cycles and I believe them. I have 5 DE days and 2 autoX inso far this season and they show little if any wear. I think I will be way ahead $$ wise than if I bought a lesser tire & had to change them out mid season.

95 GPW 993

I have P Zero's on my 993 with about 7K miles on them. Other than being a bit noisy they grip pretty well in summer. They are wearing very well. I don't track either of my cars so I can't comment how they behave at 9/10 of their limit vs. other tires. They do get a bit squirly in winter even with no snow.

My Boxster has Bridgestone RE730's on it, which are great tires. I've only had the car for about 3 weeks but I'm comfortable with the grip they provide.

getting ready for a set of rear rubber 265/35/18s for the S. The price for t eh Dunlop SP9090s is way to high. I am looking at some Falken 451s (W) rated similar tread pattern and both installed with the latest road load machine for 439 out the door. The Dunlops were going to be 635. Really would appreciate some feed back.

Well seems I will be the one reporting back. Going to have the new rubber mounted tomorrow. Saw the tires today and they look awesome. We shall see.
