Post Buying a Used Boxster or Boxster S?

I'm currently in the market for a used Boxster and I wanted to get the opinions of some people here. What do you think is a better deal? a 2000 Boxster for ~28k or a 2000 Boxster S for ~39k.. both have around 20k miles...

Right now I can probably afford to put down about $20k-25k cash for either car and I'm not sure if I really want to finance another $15k for the S. How is depreciation on these? If 3 years down the road I decide to sell the car, do you think both will have similar reductions in value?

While we're at it can some of you guys give me some advice on negotiating? When i bought my last car i believe i offered $5000 for a $6000 car -- what's a good amount to start with for say a $39000 car if i don't want to low-ball and insult the seller?

thanks in advance

Depending on the options on both cars - such as Traction Control, better stereo and Xenon headlights - the gap for the S seems a bit higher than it should be (the difference was about $9,000 when new, I think) - so either the S has more stuff or the Non-S is a deal. Personally, I would go for the S and make a reasonable offer ($35-36k?). If you go to:

you may get even more good suggestions but bottom line is the S is worth getting if you can swing it!
