Has anyone fitted a set of 285 30 18s under the rear of their Boxster ?
If so, which rims ?
Were spacers used ?
thanks

I have those tires on the rear of my Boxster S with the Kinesis K58 10x18 wheels. No spacers used you can contact Wheel Enhancement to have a set made for you. Sorry don't know the offsets but they clear no problems.

Greg,
I have 986 wheels on it, not 996 as originally planned. :-/
RobertG
cool, thanks

Thanks.
I ran 993TT rims on my 2.5 Boxster
(with 265 tyres)
The rims extended passed the guards by approx 5mm.
Not a problem if the car is std height.
I want to lower the S

Where can one find spacers to fit 10 inch 996 wheels to a Boxster S? Are the spacers of the type that have additional lug nuts, or can you source longer bolts to account for the spacers width? 21mm seems pretty thick for longer bolts, but I can't seem to picture how the lug nutted spacers would work with 986 type hubs. I have a basement full of 18 inch wheels and none fit the Boxster S I just bought. Well, almost none, I have a set of Voxx 10 spokes that are 18 x 9, and they are OK, but not the best wheels I've ever had. They do look OK though.

+1 on the Techart's with 285/30's. There is VERY little room to spare on either side. I understand that they will not fit with PSS9's as the spring perch extends further down than with the stock struts.

I have a set of 993 hollow turbo twists that came with 285's for my '03 Boxster S when I started tracking. There was no rubbing but I had just about 2 credit card thickness of space between the tire and strut.

Fit is a debatable subject. I am currently running narrowish 295/30s. IMNSHO, a proper 10" fitment will need 47-48 offset. It is really tight back there, and you are basically down to manufacturing tolerances, alignment settings, and differences in actual section widths and the thickness of the metal used to make the wheels. All numbers are nominal remember, so be conservative or have a plan B if you're not sure.
The 993 TT Turbos are ET40. IMO, they stick out with 285s; OK with 265s. You may have rubbing problems with the fender especially if lowered with 285s.
Regular 996 wheels are ET65, so a 17mm spacer will give you ET48. I originally had my ET48 10" wheels fitted with 5mm spacers since I wasn't sure they'd fit (I had them leftover from my previous wheels), and they stuck out to me -- but didn't rub.
Clearance to the struts is something to take seriously. You are asking for serious trouble with 10" and most coilovers. I can measure the clearance to my factory struts with feeler gauges.
Net: 10" can be done in a Boxster, but you have to pay attention.

I have mounted hoosiers A6 and Conti on my stock rims and shocks,
never had a clearence problem.
mounting is a breeze, can do both rears in about 15 minutes.
