A new bug has surfaced. The airbag warning light has decided to stay on. My '91 964 had a similar problem. I took it to the dealer a couple of times and had it turned off by the computer (nothing wrong with the airbag), but within days or weeks it would come back on again. I was told by a knowledgable mechanic that this was a common ailment in 964's and the fix usually involved replacing the clock (the airbag light was in the clock), so I never bothered to have it fixed.
Is this a common Boxster problem as well? Any suggestions? The car is under warranty, so I assume I can have it corrected w/o expense.

It is common on the older Boxsters. They had tin plated electrical contacts. In October 1999 Porsche issued a TSB with a retrofit kit for the older cars which included gold plated contacts. As of 9/2/99 Porsche started using gold plated contacts on the assembly line. I have only heard of 2 post 2000 cars that had the light problem - one of those cars had a problem in the main wiring harness and Porsche paid my local dealer like $8,000 to have it replaced. Jeff
