Default WTB in NJ

Hey guys, I'm in the market for a 986 in the NJ area. I'm willing to drive to surrounding states, or maybe farther, if the deal is just right.

I've got about $21.000 to spend (price bracket) but I'd like to not spend all of that. I'm open to colours but I'd prefer black, blue, or silver. Manual transmission only, please, as I am absolutely fed up with having the car shift for me.

I plan on making a purchase this May, but I figured that I'd put out an ad now to see what's out there.

Note to moderators: Sorry if this is in the incorrect forum.

Check out http://www.raycoeuro.com They put me in my Boxster for the right price and got me EXACTLY what I wanted.

Always an incredible inventory on hand (mostly high end and exotics), and they will do a car search for you if they don't have it.

Thanks, Melissa. I will call them tomorrow. Anyone else have, or know of, a 986 for sale?

Jack Danial's Porsche in Fair lawn has a couple of 986's in their pre owned lot, not my favorite dealer for sure but they so seem to always have a couple of decent pre owned cars.

Ask for Phil Cable. He's the General Manager.

I just got off the phone with Phil, Melissa, and he remembered you. He was like "She was the woman in the red Boxster with the aftermarket wheels, right?" I looked at your avatar and said yes :P

Anyway, there's a '99 986 black on black with 32.000mi on the clock for $22.000. If it's not sold by the time I get home, it's mine

If you do get it from there you have a GREAT ride home to get friendly with the new Box...down the PA Turnpike on the parts where you can go FAST with little to no traffic! MMMMMMmmmm!

Before you buy do a few searches on here and on porsche pete's boxster board on the 99's. They had some very specific and VERY expensive problems with the engines. Don't want your 99 in Kingston to be among those in the bad production run. The engine blows out on you at about 30K miles. Porsche has been crappy about fixing it even though it is a known defect of their engines...and just about never fix it for pre-owned ones.

Just want you to be fully informed!

True. I don't know if the dealers still offer models that old on the CPO (Porsche Certified Pre-Owned) , but if they do, I'd look for that. It might cost you a little more but CPO would protect you against an engine failure.

Update: Just looked it up...99 might J-U-S-T make it....

"Porsche Approved Certified Pre-Owned vehicles are inspected by factory trained technicians who conduct a 100+ point mechanical and visual inspection, using original Porsche parts. Each vehicle must pass this rigorous inspection before it can be eligible for enrollment into the Porsche Approved Program. Current model year vehicles and those of eight previous model years with less than 100,000 miles/160,000 kilometers are eligible for enrollment."
