Thanks,
Dave

You can do what I did. List the specs you want, email every
Porsche dealer within two or three hundred miles and ask
for a price quote. Tell them you are comparing pricing.

I have a Boxster S on the way at $4K off MSRP.

(It's going to have the new sport exhaust!)

It's on the ship now, unless it got to Brunswick, GA
already. (They may have stopped off to do some fishing
or scuba diving in the Bahamas which can delay the
arrival)

In other words, use the power of your computer and email
and shop around.

Best,

- Mark

Thanks,

what I believed -- based on my research -- of what "invoice" was plus the advertised destination charge which the dealer pays the factory.

Sales manager, sitting over in next cubicle -- immediately took over from salesman and we negotiated without being in sight of one another through the cubicle wall -- told me I was $100 under his cost.

I upped my offer by $100. Some polite back and forth, but "no sale".

Left dealership for a couple of hours -- grabbed some dinner and thought things over -- then returned.

Looked at door tag on car and calculated flooring costs dealer had in car.

Upped my offer by that much.

Again sales manager and I started going back and forth again -- and again nothing bad, rather pleasant actually -- and at the end of the day, nearly closing time, I found myself in possession of a new '02 Boxster with factory delivery miles plus a few extra miles (the extra miles were put on by me and the salesman during short test drive) for about $5000 under MSRP.

Sincerely,

Macster.
