Question Boxster Hard Top

Here's the deal.

A friend called me from a dealership where I used to work for 3+ years, and told me that a boxster was traided in with a hard top. I've asked him to get a price for me on the top, but what is a used top worth? I wasn't interested in a top because of cost and necessity for me, but if I can get a good deal, I might take it. Also, did they change the tops between years, or the mounts for the tops. I've got a 2000 S, and I'm not sure what year the car with the top is. Any help is greatly aprreciated.

it will fit so long as it's a 986 top, the only noticable difference will be the 1st years had funny "ears" on the sides for the old style roof transport system

I just paid $1200 for a 2001 top in perfect condition with a local pickup

Hey, has anyone seen the Zeintop? It is advertised in Panno this month. Looks cool, but real pricey- $5,000 plus shipping.

well, the sales manager stiffed me, refused to sell it without the car, not one of the people that I knew very well. At least I tried, but just so everyone knows, there is a silver boxster S for sale on the front lot at Hendrick Lexus, and a couple of other boxsters on the lot. I'm sure their prices are high, but might be worth checking out.

They come up on EBay all the time. Availbility dependent on time of year and if someone was dumb enough to give it to the dealer on trade in. Unless you like the two tone, I do, hold out for your color.
