Default hardtop questions, repaint? will one fit in an Audi A6 wagon?

funny question I know

I just bought a hardtop and I can either drive the Boxster down and attempt to fit it on top, or drive my allroad down and put it in the back

second question, the seller may have the wallmount hanger but isn't sure, do those come apart and if so would it fit in the Boxster?

and third, about how much should I expect to pay for a repaint?

thanks!

Is your Boxster fitted with the spin locks required to secure the top? I've driven my '99 w/o the spin locks, but it was only 7.5 miles from work to home and no highway speeds. Even then, I was nervous about damaging the pins and the front latch. But then again, it wouldn't fit in the Subaru Forester we had, so I really had no other choice. They're very wide. Not heavy, but clumsy. I think they'll fit in the back of a pick-up ok. I doubt anything else.

Sorry, can't help you with the wall mount hanger. Don't know that I've ever seen one?

Repaint depends on where you get it done. You shouldn't pay more than $1000 though. Just not worth it. More like $500 should get it done.

the spinlocks aren't fitted, but I ordered them last week

if it won't fit in a Forester then it definately won't fit in an allroad, so that works, guess I'll find out of the wall mount fits when I get there

thanks!

What color is the top? What color is your Boxster? Some combos don't look too funky...like a silver car with a block top. Or a blue car with a silver top. Might save you a little money...

It'll probably look...like a Mini. I'd plan on painting it. Of course, if it's just to get you through winter, it may not be too bad. Post a pic when you get it!

will do

I figure I'll only use it for winter and hopefully some DE's, but I'm not sure if having the HD will mean I don't need the rollbar extension

Not sure on the extension. While the top does add some structure, I doubt it can be considered roll-over protection.

Black w/ a silver top could be kinda funky in a good way at the track. Get some silver magnetic numbers for the car...could be cool. Then just for fun, leave them on in winter!

The spin lock only takes 30 mins to fit. do it and collect the roof in the boxster.

I did over 500 km back the autobahn with no spinlocks and the roof started to lift everytime I went above 80km/hr. It was no fun.

I did post photos on fitting the spin locks a long time ago. https://rennlist.com/forums/boxster-and-boxster-s-986-forum/191490-hardtop-install-diy.html

Have fun,
