I've used powertech over the years. Sometimes i felt they went beyond in getting me what I needed done in an unrealistic (ie rush) timeframe. Other times I have felt let down, as though they were banking on previous credit when things "slipped" a bit. They have grown dramatically over the years and have lost some of the client relationship (closeness) that made them so good in the beginning.

As for First 986NJ - Where did you buy your car? Private sale or dealer? I think you will see that there are a few good dealers and private shops in NJ/NY area. Rick Deman runs a great shop. I've heard good things about Prestige and Ray Catena as well. Rates also seem consistent across the different shop types. For some the choice is made by proximity to work or home. To others, its where they have a friend or just "feel" comfortable.

I recently moved from North NJ to Virginia and I am going through similar questions. I've tried two different shops. Both have done fine work. But neither feels "right", if you know what I mean.

I bought my car out of CT from New Country Porsche of Greenwich. The car is Porsche Certified Pre-Owned, so I have a full 2 year warranty. Dealt with a super nice guy named George Cirone there. Great guy. My family and I were treated very well and everyone seemed pleasent and knowledgable. They threw a brand new set of Pirelli PZero’s on, in spite of the fact that they didn't really have to, and they treated the paint, top, and interior with protectant (listed on their services menu for $450) for nothing. Have not used them for service yet, so I can't say how they are with that.

However I live in northwest NJ, so it would be 90 mins., each direction, to take it there for service. Double if I had to leave it and go back for it. Hense the questions as to who are the reputable service centers around here. I just want to be sure that whoever works on her knows what the hell they are doing.(...and doesn't change my engine out..)
