When I bought it, my Boxster's interior looked excellent, with the exception of the glove box covers in the doors (the hinged cover that the arm rests on). The rubber coating on them had begun to peel and didn't look very pretty. New covers are $76 each from the dealer, and I figured I'd experiment with re-coating the old covers first before buying new ones.
Simple process:
1. peel off old rubber coating using fingernails and fine to medium grit sandpaper
2. wash off dust
3. apply two coats of spray-on Plastidip rubber coating (http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=42776)
4. let dry
The Plastidip spray is incredibly easy to work with, and the results, I think, are staggering. Before and after pictures are attached.
Maybe this helps someone who has a similar problem.

That looks fantastic!!
Great job and thanks for the info. I want to re-do ours, but everything I have seen gives it a smooth finish making it a PITA to keep clean. Let us know how it holds up.

I painted these base plastic door flaps arctic silver, then covered with a har polyeurathane. They are a bit glossy, but you can't scratch them with a hammer.
