rattling top

rattling top
My '99 boxster has had one convertible top replacement due to a cracked plastic window. That was a year ago, and I used an aftermarket top to save $$$. Well, it's now starting to rattle when it's up.
My question is: Is there any maintenance to be done, such as seal replacement, adjustment of moving parts, etc.,that will help this? Or am I now paying for a second rate fix.
The noise seems to come from two places:
Just above my head, inside the transverse, plastic bar, it sounds like a small loose part that rattles at the slightest bump...
and on the passenger side at the top of the windshield there's a rattle when I encountermore pronounced bumps in the road. I think that's where the alignment pin contacts the top.
Any suggestions for quieting this problem?
I appreciate any suggestions.

There are several TSBs concerning the top making noises. Most of them involve new felt or teflon strips to cushion and tighten the connections. You can go to www.alldatadiy.com and sign up for a year at $24.95 and have access to all of the TSBs and repair instructions for a year.
