Boxsters have been around for 10 years, so I expect the major problems to have been worked out after the first few years.
I checked Consumer Reports 07 auto issue--they get a lot of data on trouble spots in cars. The Porsche Boxster has had excellent "major engine" reliability from 02-06. It was last poor in 01, so there must have been problems that year. Overall, the Boxster has average reliability by their standards. I will add that they seem to have a bias towards the Japanese cars, i.e., an emphasis on the positive for those cars, and the negative on other cars. That's just my perception based on what they say on cars I have owned. I do agree with their view that Honda is the best overall value in the market.
