slicks on Boxster S
#2
I know from owning a 996 that the '99-'01 engines on these cars would have oil starvation issues with slicks. Motosports did have a fix-it, with additional oil pick-up and an additional oil channel bored through one of the heads. 2002 and up, this was reportedly permanently fixed for the 996, and I suppose for the 986 as well. Have not heard of any problems with the newer 996's, and I do run with R-compounds at the track with my '02 C4S. I don't run with slicks.
Having said that, I also have run with 986's MY 99-'01 on the track that run on slicks, with tweaked suspensions and alignments but with otherwise stock engines. Fast SOB's on the turns that give my C4S a work-out. Pretty sure they're generating stupendous G's. No reports of oil starvation from these guys.
Once broken-in, I plan to get track wheels and R-compounds for my 987S.

We ran a 1999 MY Boxster on slicks (not R compounds) and experienced severe oil pressure drops. Never did it again, but I've driven newer Boxsters on track w/R's and everything's been fine.
Palting is spot on about the Motorsport kit. Well worth it, in my experience, for the older cars.
