Default 928 Owner looking to add a Boxster to the family...

Hey guys - first post here in the 986 forum. Looking seriously at buying a 1998 to 2001 Boxster to complement my 1987 928 S4 (see pic of attached baby ). Is there anything here similar to the 928 FAQ that I can use when looking at possible purchases, or can any of you give any tips on what to look out for? I plan on doing most of any repair and upgrades myself, as I have a feeling that after wrenching on the 928, I can accomplish just about anything . Any information/advice is most appreciated...

Thanks!

Bill

My last Porsche was an 04 928s. One of my best P-cars! There is probably alot to choose from out there right now. As usual get the newest car you can afford, get a pre-purchase inspection etc.. I think the S cars are fairly affordable 00-01. You will enjoy the differant engine character, car still feels substantial but has a lower polar moment of inertia. The handling is hard to describe but is at the top of the automotive heap (until the new coupe comes out). I wish i could still have both but I do love the Box. Welcome to the flip side...happy hunting.

Not sure about an FAQ, but there have been a lot of new "potentials" lately asking a lot of questions on this board. Spend some time and go through a few pages and you'll probably get all the answers you need.

Sweet shark!

You can find lots of info at PPBB.com.

One note is that Porsche unveiled several upgrades to the 2000 models. The base got a 2.7L (increased from 2.5) and the S has a 3.2L. You would probably appreciate the additional power of the 2000 and up.

Thanks guys - www.ppbb.com looks like it is a good resource. Too bad the 986 faq site is down - that looks like it was exactly what I was looking for. Anyone have a cached copy? Regardless, thanks for the compliments and the help - I'll keep you posted on my progress
