Default Tire diameter

I got 18" Carrera Lightweight wheels for my Boxster S
7.5x18 50
9x18 52

but the tires aren't statndard, they are Michelins PS2 235/40/18 in the front and 265/40/18 in the rear. Would that throw off and disable the PSM and ABS? I drove 100+ miles on these tires already and the car seems fine. The ABS light did not come on at all. I think these tires/wheels were from a GT3.

Thanks

If the diameter is more than a 4% difference then it is said you will get a light because the system does not like the wheel speeds it sees. Your car must be happy.

Not quite. The GT3 comes with 8.5" and 11" rims. Tires are 235/40 and 295/30. So, the only thing in common are the front tires. However, the tires in question should work fine on your Boxster as the fronts are 25.4" tall while the rears are 25.3".

So what is the largest tire rim combination that can work with the Boxster S? Also what rims and tires are used for snow chains? Thanks

Snow chains? If the snow is that bad, the Boxster is probably a poor choice. Anything deep and yucky enough that Hakki or Alpins can manage is probably too yucky for a car with 4" of ground clearance.

ettsn raises an excellent point. I've used a winter wheel/tire set for use in snow only, but the ice/snow mix - especially the "chunks" left behind by snowplows - is very dangerous for any car w/limited clearance, and I banged up a couple of front lower control arms that first winter. Taught me an $$ lesson. I do drive in cold weather AND if there is very little snow, but once it hits 4" or so, the Boxster is parked. Good luck,
J
