Unhappy 99 Boxster Rear window repair - HELP

Hello,

I have a tear in the rear window of my softtop (approx 3" long).

I have been calling a few shops and the best price quoted to date is $625.

Can anyone suggest a good repair shop in the Dallas / Ft. Worth (Texas) area.

Many Thanks!

Jerry

I would actually recommend having your window replaced at the dealership. The dealership is going to have all the tools required to do the job right and have it come out looking good. The factory tools which Porsche provides the dealership are pretty crazy, you would have to see it to believe it.

I've seen a window which was done at an independent and it didnt come out looking too hot.

I'm sure this isnt what you wanted to hear...

I had to replace the rear window in my '99 Boxster last winter, due to it cracking. I paid right around $617 usd for the repair, which I wasn't too happy about paying. But, at least I can say it sure does feel great being able to see clearly out the rear view now .

You can get an aftermarket top for $550. I have never seen one but people who have gone aftermarket say it looks just like the factory. Since the top has to be removed to sew in a new window, might as well replace the entire top with a new one.

I have seen some sewn in windows and they looked fine. The only issue is how it is sealed so it does not leak.

Oops, I forgot to mention that I didn't go to the dealer to get my window replaced and I love the finish of the window, just not the price for repair since the actual plastic itself was only about $25.
