Default "courtesy light" question??

hi, im over from the 944 board, have an 89 s2, and my wife has an 01 boxster.
the question is regarding the interior courtesy light in her boxster. it only goes on when the
key is in the ignition and in the "run" position.. her owners manual says it should light when the door is unlocked and opened. it is in the middle positon as is instructed in the book... am i missing something here... it should'nt be
very complicated...?? it also does not work in the "manual on position unless the key is in the ignition and on also.
thanks in advance.

Go to you dealer and hook up the car to the PST2. Sound likes it is still in the transit/sleeper mode when they ship the cars over to avoid battery drain. Some dealers back then forget to code the computer to the hand-over mode.
