So we just got a hard top and there are 2 simple questions,
1. Any options to get the install hardware for less than the 100/ side price for as simple of a part as it is...
2 It is a silver hard top, car is dark blue - wrap to match? paint to match? or wrap to look like cf?
Not sure I can help but I went through the same questions last year when I bought my hardtop.
1. No, unless you can find a set used, which is extremely rare and near impossible. If you are patient, they might pop up, but you have to be proactive. I caved and bought mine from the dealership.
2. I think this is purely dependent on your goals. My car is ocean blue metallic but my hardtop was black. I wasn't happy with it but I've learned to love it since it's mostly an HPDE car. My intention was to wrap it as colour matched as possible, but the cost was prohibitive (somewhere in the realm of $2500 CAD) so I passed on it.
Okay, where are you finding those hardtops? I've seen whole cars wrapped for less than 3000.00, I,ve been looking for a black one for a year, live in Montana.

There were 4 near me. 1 went instantly with some blemishes for $1k, one listed for $3500 lowered to $3k and is still for sale, he was about 3 hrs from me but I wasn't super excited about paying that and driving. The other just listed for $4k about 6 hrs from me in GA. I think he's gonna have it for a while. All of my searching was on FB market place. This one popped up 30 min from me for a very reasonable price and I check my search almost daily. I was not the first to reach out, but I was the most responsive and best communicator, so he felt most comfortable selling to me.
Also... I'm super happy to update that I called the seller and asked if I could have the mounting kit, and he said yes. So I just removed that and picked it up this afternoon - not extra $$

first, congratulation on getting your hardtop and at a reasonable price.
In my view it's essential for the boxster for many reasons: weather, track, safety & even pure looks.
1st question: if you mean the spin locks, then yes, they are only factory supplied. I see you got them from the seller for free so congratulations again.
now you need to get the special tool to install them yourself or get a dealer to do it for you. Don't take this install lightly, it has to be done right so putting-on & removing the hardtop is easy & smooth operation.
If this install was cooked, the hardtop can get stuck and or the fixing brackets get torn which is very frustrating & costly to repair as I've seen it first hand.
2nd question: I'd recommend getting it painted to match.
Yes the locks are expense but it is the only thing holding your top on the car in the rear. They are super easy to install, but they are side specific so make sure to buy a left and right. $81 here OEM part. 986-563-714-03-OEM

FWIW, you'll require the same locks should you ever purchase a set of Speedster Humps. Think of them as an investment!
