Default OEM fuel filter

Today I changed the fuel filter on my 01 986s. As soon as I removed the rock guard and saw where it was I knew it was its 01 original filter. The filter tips over and all I saw was black liquid didnt even smell like gas. I drained it and it was all black. It been idiling well sometimes as soon as I cracked it over I felt the smooth idle. If you have not changed urs its super simple and I know ur porsche would love it. Greetings from socal.

Obvious question, but where exactly do you find the fuel filter? I have an 03 986S and this seems like a good thing to tackle as an end of season maintenance job.

Starting with the '02 Boxster, the fuel filter is located in the fuel tank.

And, IIRC, is integral to the fuel pump, so replacement of the filter means replacement of the pump. Not a maintenance item, in other words.
