Default Parking brake spring clips

I found out the parking brake shoe spring clips were missing in my car (2002 Boxster S). These are the spring clips that are oriented from one side of the car to the other and attach the brake shoes to the hub.

I ordered a set of new ones from the dealership (PN 986-352-741-00). They seem to be too short - the hook of the spring does not reach through the parking shoe to the back of the hub no matter how hard I push the spring. It's basically bottomed out. Had my mechanic try as well with the same result.

I spoke to the dealership and they're saying it's the correct part for the car and is the correct size based on the other set they have in stock. They seem to be slightly less than 1.5" long.

Not sure what I'm missing. Did anybody encounter this before? Is there maybe a missing part? Or are there longer (maybe aftermarket) springs?

Thanks!

Looks like 986-352-741-00 is meant for the base Boxster.
99635274101 should be the correct part for your Boxster S

Isn't 996-352-741-01 a 911 part (996)? A couple of sites I checked are all over the place with the fitment list.
Is the only way to find out the exact size would be to go to the parts counter in person?

In case you’re new to the 986, there’s a lot of crossover in 986 and 996 part numbers. You can’t assume a 996-… part number is strictly for 911s. It’s a result of how Porsche economized when introducing the Boxster (and saved the company!)

Cool, thanks! I ordered four of the 996-352-741-01. Hope they fit. It's a $29 spring that probably cost about 10 cents to make, love it

They are a pain to install even with the right springs. Check out a few YouTube videos before starting. I found it’s really easy to install the pads upside down and that makes it much harder to install than the correct way(I know seems obvious, but double check). Wondering if whoever did your brakes had it backwards and just gave up.
